I have the opportunity to work for a company that not only promotes learning as it relates to your job, but also as it relates to personal growth. I took a class the other day that centered around ‘Delivering Happiness’, the book that Tony, our CEO, wrote. At the end of the class we did a quick exercise that I’ve been thinking about ever since, so I thought I would share. Hope you enjoy! xoxo
-Spend about 5 minutes writing down the happiest moments of your life. Try and jot down as many as you can think of.
-Once you have them written down, read them out loud and see if you notice any common themes. For example, all of my happiest moments centered around memories with family & friends, as well as times in my life where I felt a great deal of self-awareness, accomplishment, & independence.
-Next, with those themes in mind, write down little things that you can do each day to proactively bring more happiness into your life. For me, happiness doesn’t get much better than randomly doing something nice for someone else, so this one is at the top of my list.
-Finally, remember to do them. 🙂

I recently got a new bookshelf (and put it together myself, woo hoo!) and was excited to finally get to use my really cute, modern lamp I had gotten months ago when I moved into my place. I loved the way it looked except for the lampshade. I searched around online for a really cute, affordable one and couldn’t find any I liked. Then it dawned on me, I could take this white lampshade and make it into what I had been searching for! I already had the painter’s tape, so for a measly $3 at Michael’s, I was able to transform this in about an hour. Here is what I did:
Start out with a plain, white lampshade (mine is from Target):
Tape your lampshade in your desired pattern. This is the most tricky part, however it doesn’t have to be perfect to look good. You won’t be able to see small imperfections unless you are up close.
Using acryclic gold metallic paint and a stencil brush, paint the entire shade, making sure the tape is firmly pressed down onto the fabric. If it isn’t, the paint can drip down a bit and mess up your pattern.
Gently peel the painter’s tape off the shade while it’s drying so the tape doesn’t stick to the paint and peel it off once it’s dry.
Once dry, you have an adorable finished product to display!

It’s ok if…
…you are super excited for the holidays, and it is barely August.
…you haven’t read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. And you don’t plan on it.
…sometimes you start crafting projects and realize half-way through you have no idea what you are doing.
…you are finally going to get an iPhone. But only because the cute case you want only fits the iPhone.
…you never ever ever wear your hair straight.
…you can’t lay down without falling asleep.
…you love other peoples doggies, but just don’t want your own quite yet.
…no one will ever be good enough for your brother in your eyes.
…you just really love being blonde.
…a bad day can be turned around by a red velvet cupcake.
